Using this Software with Windows Vista

1. Notes about Installation
AutoPlay Window

Upon inserting the CD-ROM, the "Auto Play" box to the left shall appear.
Under [Install or run program], click on [Run start.exe]. For some applications the above may appear as [Runfirst.exe]

*It is possible make settings so as not to have this display shown, These settings can be made in the [Control Panel] under [AutoPlay],

By starting the installation, the [User Account Control] box to the left shall appear, The following will appear;[setup.exe][Unidentified Publisher], to continue with the installation, enter the administrator account password and click the [OK] button,
2. Notes about Operation
*Depending on the software, Temp/Humidity or Multi-scale Graph may not be included.

2-1 Opening Multi-scale Graph
If the dialog box to the left appears when trying to open Multi-scale Graph, please go to the [Start] Menu and right click on [Multi-scale Graph] and select [Run from Administrator].
The registry will thereafter be changed and the next time the program will be opened normally,
2-2 Opening Temp/Humidity Graph, Multi-scale Graph or other data file(.trx,etc...) by using a double click To open a data file by using a double click, it is necessary to have registered that file's extension.
In the [Start] Menu, right click on the Graph program and select [Run as Administrator].
after that, right click on data file and under [Properties]-[General]tab, click on the {Change] button in [Type of File] to link the file to the proper extension and register it,
2-3 Opening a Temp/Humidity Graph, Multi-scale Graph or other data file(.trx,etc...) by dropping it into the Graph window
If you wish to open a file by dropping it into a Graph, it will not appear if the Graph has been opened using [Run as Administrator]. Please open the Graph as a General User.
In general, we suggest when using Vista to only use [Run as Administrator] to open the Graphs the first time in order to link the type of data files(extension) to the Graph programs. After that please open as a General User and carry out the opening of data as usual.
3. Windows Update - Change Settings Display
To solve this problem please take steps such as the following
3-1 Place a shortcut for our "Auto-Download" application in the "Startup" Folder of the "Start" Menu. By doing this the application will be started when Windows is restarted, and if the programmed time for the auto download has passed, a message will be displayed asking whether or not you wish to run the Auto Download function or not, thereby putting the application in a waiting status for an entry from the user.
3-2 In the "Change Settings" display, we do not recommend that the setting be for other than "Install updates automatically(recommended)" Therefore we suggest the following to disable the Auto-restart of your computer system after an installation has occurred.
If in this display, the setting "Install updates automatically(recommended)" has been selected, installation and Auto-restart may occur without any confirmation necessary from the user.

3-3 After making settings for Windows Update in the "Group Policy Object Editor", select to not automatically restart the system after installation.
  • Open the "Group Policy Object Editor" In the "Start Menu" under "Run..." enter [gpedit.msc] to open.

  • Under "Computer Configration" select "Administrative Templates" - "Windows Components" - "Windows Update" to open the Windows Update Tree.

  • Upon selecting "Windows Update" from the tree, a pane will appear to the right for settings, double click on "No auto-restart for scheduled Automatic Updates installed" to open the settings window.

  • Select "Enable" and click the [OK] button or the [Apply] button. By doing this the Auto-restart of the system will be stopped from occurring.

  • After finishing the settings, downloads and the installation of repair programs from Windows Update will occur automatically, but while being logged on, Auto-restart of the system will not occur. A message, as shown below, will appear asking for the user to restart the computer.

4. About the Saving Location for Data Files
The Application automatically creates a new data file each time an Auto-Download session occurs.
Note that when using the Vista OS the [Virtual Store] function will redirect files from the default folder into which the program was installed to separate folders under [Program Files] for each user, as shown below: [C:\User\(Your Account Name)\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\(Application)](EX: If login was carried out using the account name "myname" and "RTR-5W for Windows" is the application being run, the saving location appear in the application window as:[C:\Program Files\RTR-5W for Windows\data] but due to the [Virtual store] function the actual saving location will be [C:\User\myname\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\RTR-5W for Windows\data] If the login was carried out from [Run as Administrator], the file will be saved to the folder as it appears in the application window.
5. Countermeasures for not being able to view Help Menus(WinHelp format)
For applications such as this the Help Menu is not in HTML, but in an older format called "WinHelp" and hence cannot be viewed under normal conditions. To deal with this, please go to the Microsoft Web Site at: (http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/917607/) to download the necessary program (WinHlp32.exe) to enable viewing. When trying to open the Help Menu using Vista the window to the right will appear: From there it is possible to connect to the Microsoft Web Site. To download [WinHlp32.exe], please click the following to go to the Microsoft Web Site:(http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=82148)
